Last night, the Barcamp II – Maps and Mobile Unconference has happened last night in NUS Extension, Park Mall from 6.30 to 10 pm. The event was organized by the combined team of Singapore PHP User Group, E27 (Garag3) and Barcamp Singapore and was the first local community event sponsored by Google Singapore. We kicked off with the registration and networking session among the particpants. At precisely 7.30 pm, we gathered everyone into the room for the keynote sessions. Originally, we estimated the number of people turning to be between 80-100, but it turned out more than expected to about 130-150. Hence, it was a great turnout from the local developers community in Singapore. In this narrative post, we also provide the links to related posts and pictures of event. The videos for the presentation will be uploaded soon. Read more

Recently, Michael Cheng, a serial entrepreneur friend of mine has started the Podfire.sg, a video podcast network to distribute content all over Asia. Being a social media hobbyist, I have taken some time out of my own schedule to produce and write the Geek Goddess show together with Michael (and we are both fans of Studio 60), which is hosted by Estee Teo (we created the show concept out of her online persona, Geek Goddess) and Peter Du. Our focus is on the web scene in Asia, where we are starting from the web 2.0 sites in China first, slowly moving across the Asia Pacific region (so stayed tuned). Here are the first two episodes of the show, and do take a look and send us your feedback on the Geek Goddess Show website. You can also check out my own production notes here. Read more
