Deal.com.sg releases iPhone app
July 27, 2011 by Terence LEE

Deal.com.sg, a Singapore-based daily deals website which rivals Groupon Singapore in sales revenue, has just launched its own iPhone app today in an arms race to compete with its muscular competitor (see SGE’s stories on the Singapore scene).
The app allows users to buy vouchers to restaurants, entertainment venues, spas, as well as travel packages through PayPal or credit card. Once they purchase the deal, they can redeem it by showing the in-app voucher to the merchant.
Without the app, customers would have to manually print out the voucher and bring it along with them — an unnecessary hassle and environmentally unfriendly. Finally, the app allows them to keep track of all their purchased deals while on the go.
The app is in many ways similar to Groupon’s own, although theirs is also available on the Android and BlackBerry. Groupon’s app also has an additional feature not found in its rival’s — deal-finding via GPS.
Nonetheless, reception to Deal’s app has been quite positive, with an average rating of 4.5 stars out of 5. Deal fans are also jubilant about its launch. Commented one of them: “So finally deal.com.sg decided to create an app! But a bloody nice one! No more printing of vouchers!! Yay!!!”
