I'll like to make an amendment to this comment and article to keep relevant with times. I think microblogging such as Twitter, Facebook Page will work just as well as a blog these days. People are kind of accustomed to regular bite size news.

Hey Aaron,

thanks for the great post. I've just written an article that takes this from another angle: Why you should found a company WITH a blogger. You can check it out at http://thezukunft.com.

Interestingly, we have opposite opinions on the domain knowledge thing. I think that what makes a blogger valuable is his broad interest, while you said that bloggers build up a strong domain knowledge. Why do you think a blogger needs to have strong domain knowledge to be successful?

Don't think that blogging success contributes to all kinds of trade. Unless your startup is of a new innovation / idea, probably blogging serves as a platform to test the market and to arouse interest.

My next question would be , how do you get your blog to be noticed?

I think it's great advice for start-up companies to start a blog. You make very good points, and the only thing I would disagree with is that they should do it before launching their start-up. If they happen to do it before great, but don't hold off on the start-up waiting for the blog to become a success because that may never happen. A blog is a great advertising resource and it goes hand in hand with the start-up company, so one without the other is less effective.

It’s quite true that one can get important “market feedback” and potential supporter of your startup product from blogging. However it is not easy to maintain a sucessful blog, especially the entrepreneur has to deal with so many things in his/her fledging business. Hence perhaps one should start blogging early ?
