Revamping the company's website is an excellent action to take! Many Start up and SMEs often fail to put in enough investment or value to boost their online presence, resulting in poor corporate image and customer perception on the company.

Now, its really the best time to do some touching up and revamp the companies existing identity and online presence. When the economic gets better, you're ready to beat your competitors and stay ahead.

This is probably the best, clearest post I have read about surviving the crunch. Your insight is both refreshing and revolutionary. Companies are often closed and do not share well - if they followed just one piece of this advice they would be further down the path of progressive/smart businesses. Thank you, great post! - Jacqueline

Hi William - This is a helpful list. I am curious if the "barter equity for marketing" suggestion has worked outside of Asia. I've heard before about it's use in Asia, but not beyond.

I wanted to share one more resource. I hope you don't mind. You've listed elance and 99designs. crowdSPRING (http://www.crowdspring.com) uses the crowdsourcing model to deliver graphic design services. crowdSPRING is the creative marketplace. Buyers who need a new logo, website, marketing materials or other creative content post what they need, when they need it and how much they want to pay. Once posted, creatives from around the world will submit actual work – not bids or proposals (like they would on Elance) – for the buyer to review. As the submissions come in, buyers are able to review, sort, rate, provide feedback and collaborate with creatives until they find the "the one." crowdSPRING provides customized legal contracts, full project management, robust notifications, and much more. Almost 9,000 creatives from 130+ countries work on crowdSPRING, and buyers from nearly 40 countries have posted projects. Buyers set their own price and we take 15% commission on top of that price. Freelancers get 100% of the money paid by buyers. We've hosted over 1,200 projects already. Because you pick from among actual designs (we average 67 per project), you get to leverage a worldwide community of designers instead of working with one designer. And we offer things that no other marketplace offers (including free customized legal agreements for every project, a guarantee that you'll get at least 25 entries to your project or your money back, full escrow, and robust project management and communication tools). We invite you and your readers to take a look.

Best,
