The Nexus 2007 event organized by The Digital Movement, promises to be a major and interactive conference where the participants will be discussing fundamental changes happening in business and technology. It is happening on 24 March 2007 in NTUC Centre, 1 Marina Boulevard. As the heavyweights are converging to Singapore for this conference, the organizers will be doing two pre-events. The first pre-event: Geek Out is on 22 March 2007, with Andreas Weigend (former chief scientist of Amazon.com) and Nathan Torkington (O’Reilly Radar) as guests. If you are a geek and want to showcase your product with emphasis on technology and innovation, do sign up for this coming event. For more details,
From the GeekOut website, please register there if you will like to take part in the event. From the website:
GeekOut! is conceptualized for technologists to exchange pointers and share ideas with the uber tech saavy and blogging friendly community. Andreas and Nat (bios below), 2 guys who have great experience in the web 2.0 and technology space, will be there as well! They will give a very short preso, and then be part of the audience to watch and comment on the presos/demos.
Hence, we want YOU to present your product (with a focus on the product and innovation) in a rapidfire manner, demo it, and get some great feedback. And of course, win some really some really cool (cash) prizes in the meantime!
This is NOT a ….
- a startup showcase. We want to show cool products, whether you are an individual, startup, or an established company who developed some good stuff that you want to share!
- about being in front of the firing squad/giving an elevator pitch. We will leave that to the experts… :)
Come show us your product and service if it is:
- A technological innovation
- Related to the web 2.0, mobile or the latest technologies out there
This is also part of our ongoing efforts to create 2-way interaction between overseas folks and the local community.

Andreas Weigend, Former Chief Scientist of Amazon.com Andreas is one of the world’s top experts on the web. Besides having been the chief scientist of Amazon.com, and teaching at Stanford, he also has vast global experience in helping many cutting edge startups from Alibaba to Zazzle achieve success!

Nathan Torkington, O’Reilly Radar Nat hails from the company which brought us the very term Web 2.0! He is a pioneer of one the most successful open source projects – Perl. Few folks are as plugged in as he is to the Web 2.0 and open source community. “Hi, Nexus folks! This is Nat Torkington from O’Reilly Radar and the Perl Foundation. I know Singapore’s a center for tech excellence (my good friend Meng Weng Wong, who founded pobox.com, hails from .sg) and I can’t wait to see the great people and technology at Nexus. See you in March!”
