Intrapreneurship can definitely be successful in most companies. I have posted several postings on intrapreneurship on my blog - www.stefanlindegaard.com - including:

- Identifying the people driving innovation
- Should everyone work with innovation?
- Traits to look for in innovation officers and intrapreneurs

I believe Danfoss which is a Danish industrial giant is a great case on intrapreneurship. Based on their experiences from an intrapreneurship program that I co-created they are now teaching other companies how to develop intrapreneurship. Check http://uk.danfossuniverse.com/page1506.aspx.

Other companies besides Adobe, Google and Danfoss with successful cases on intrapreneurship include IBM, HP and Novozymes.

I can suggest that you read the article "Building Breakthrough Businesses Within Established Organizations" by Govindarajan and Trimble.

Let me know if you want to discuss this further. I might be in Singapore later this year :-)

Chin Yong, one problem with that is that sometimes, entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial ventures that some time to germinate and bear fruit. Coming up with metrics for KPIs will be a very tricky matter.

Intrapreneurship boils down to one item. KPI, or key performance index. If management can effectively measure intrapreneurship as a KPI for all staff, down to the rank and file, then will we see effective intrapreneurship. Else it will be a lot of chest thumping from management for a solo manager/director effort disguised as intrapreneurship.
