TiE NUS, in collaboration with TiE Singapore, would like to introduce, Mr. David Siegel, who has been lecturing and speaking about ‘Web’ since 1995. He will talk about the The Semantic Web.

Update: This event has been cancelled.

Semantic Web

Computers can present you with information but can’t understand what the information is well enough to display the data that is most relevant in a given circumstance. In the World Wide Web, we use computers to search for documents but they still have to be read and interpreted by humans before any useful information can be extrapolated. The Semantic Web, on the other hand, is about having data as well as documents on the Web so that machines can process, transform, assemble, and even act on the data in useful ways.

About the Speaker

David Siegel worked at Pixar Studios one year before going into business for himself. He was in Silicon Valley for 20 years working on various start-up projects. He has designed three of the world’s top-50 typefaces and started designing web sites in 1993. He has taught graduate design courses and seminars in marketing and business. He has been writing books about the Web since 1995.

He was represented by the prestigious Leigh Bureau as a nationally sought-out speaker. He has given over 100 speeches to audiences around the world. He has been a limited partner in 3 venture funds. Since 2000, he has been an active angel investor and has participated on more than a dozen boards.
