Singaporeans are some of the most productive sellers on eBay, if what the Asian Exporters’ Index report says is true. The first ever Index, released on 31st August, collects its information from internal eBay data and results of a Nielsen online survey conducted in China and Hong Kong.

It analyzes trends among buyers and sellers from around Asia. Besides Singapore, China and Hong Kong, other countries analyzed include: Japan, Thailand, South Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines and Vietnam.

Singapore-based exporters register the second largest sales among Southeast Asian countries after Thailand, even though the small island-state has a much smaller population by comparison.

Their goods are primarily sold on eBay’s US, UK, Australia and Germany websites, with purchases from Brazil among the fastest growing. The report also found that Singapore exporters primarily sell the following goods: Jewelry, gems and watches, clothing and accessories, business items for industrial and office use, toys, and computers.
