Ride with the Marketing wave

Web 2.0

The new marketing wave of Web 2.0.

The Web 2.0 wave dictates that the new world of marketing includes podcasts, blogs, vlogs and wikis. But how many companies are actually using these now? One might argue that these methods are too “guerilla” whereas we want to maintain the “aura” of our company. Balderdash. Keep up with such trends, peeps! Some fads like fashion ones are pointless to follow, but when it comes to a whole new paradigm in the world of business, one’s gotta follow the crowd sometimes. The new world in which we are now in, is the world of media.

The technology that Web 2.0 brings has definitely provided an exciting medium for viral maketing. As any good marketeers know, any product is only as good as its marketing.

The role that bloggers play in creating “buzz” and influencing consumer decisions is interesting. But as time passes, how often would bloggers remain true to their conscience? “Power tends to corrupt”, so there certainly will be cases where once-trustworthy bloggers are influenced by the lure of money.

However, astroturfing is and will always be a danger to the integrity of the web as an information source. However, for every challenge, an opportunity awaits for companies that can audit, check against such abuses.
