Update On Singapore Entrants to DFJ Global Business Plan Competition

Not so good news. None of the 4 Singapore startups who were entered into the DFJ global business plan competition made it into the finals. Only 16 finalists were chosen worldwide. Although they didn’t make it in, we must still congratulate our Singapore startups for getting very good feedback from DFJ.

ALL of the plans were well written and deserving of submission. The teams can all be congratulated for the professional work.

  • about 70% of the 16 finalists looks interesting and quite aligned with Cisco and DFJ's business and investment philosophies over the years.

unfortunately, our SG ones are still a tad behind. We still have next year.
  • Oic. Understood. That would be valid reason to seek for that data point :)
  • Touché!

"...all business plans are different and should not be grouped geographically. Different judges have their own opinions as well."

You speak correctly - all business plans have their own merits and are different, as much as judges are entitled to their own opinions and decisions.

I should clarify - I'm more interested in data points to help improve our business plan competitions - I wasn't referring to the quality of any specific business plans ;-)
  • I can only tell you that from the time we get the notice to join this competition to getting selected and submit business plan, it is about one week. Rejection notice came within a week after the submission deadline.

Information of the finalists can be found here. http://www.dfj.com/bizcomp/

"That would be a good metric of the quality of our business plan competitions vs. the world."

No offense in commenting this, all business plans are different and should not to be grouped geographically. Different judges have their own opinions as well.

Have a good day ahead :)
  • I'd like to know how fast it took for the team deciding to reject the 4 proposals, and how that stacks up against the other entries from around the world.

That would be a good metric of the quality of our business plan competitions vs. the world.
