MDA FutureMobile Partner Network and Call For Proposals

MDA LogoMaking up another support pillar of the Singapore Media Fusion Plan, the FutureMobile initiative will allows partners in the network to leverage on one another’s resources. Several anchor partners have already been signed up and they are issuing a Call For Proposals. Selected proposals can leverage on a user base of 300 million and access to markets worldwide. Funding may also be applied for.

If your startup is building mobile applications, riding on the partner network of the FutureMobile initiative may be able to give you the immediate global distribution you need to take the product forward. Even if your product may not be ready or fit directly into the initiative, you may discover certain gaps that you could develop for.


Funding

(a) Repayable grant for commercialization projects

Under the Scheme, MDA will provide assistance through grants to cover up to 50% of the total qualifying cost of the project.

Companies who propose some form of sharing the returns from the projects will be evaluated favourably on this. Eg, Company X will give 5% revenue over a 3 year period to MDA after disbursement of the grant is completed.

(b) Fund up to 50% of project costs for R&D projects

This is the IDM R&D Digital Technology Development Scheme (DTDS).

(c) Fund up to $50,000 for startups

This is the iJAM scheme.


Call Theme 1: Applications, content and services for the mobile community

This is a call for innovative mobile applications, services and/or content that target both local and international mobile markets. The vision of the call is to make Singapore a hub to aggregate, repackage, repurpose and distribute content-rich mobile applications for the international mobile markets. Emphasis should be placed on consumer markets with the following focus:

- social networking and community building for different ethnics groups, both locally within Singapore as well as to keep in touch with friends and family in their home countries overseas.
- applications or services that will help to complement the modern active mobile lifestyle.


Call Theme 2: Mobile games for specific markets

This call is for innovative mobile games that targets the Asian markets, in particular China and SouthEast Asia. The vision of this call is to (i) develop mobile game publishing capability, including, aggregation, repackaging, advertising and distribution to local Asian markets and (ii) develop and commercialise an new mobile game blockbuster

Concepts include
- games that make innovative use of User Experience seamlessly across PC and mobile devices
- games using procured well-known intellectual properties
- games addressing the Asian markets


Call Theme 3: Mobile lifestyle – connected mobile applications

This call is for innovative mobile applications and/or services that are connected to the Internet and context aware. The vision of this call is to accelerate the creation of innovative applications to enrich consumers’ mobile lifestyles by leveraging on open-source web technologies and our partners’ platform APIs.

Concepts can include, but are not limited to the following areas:

- Mobile location-enabled services
- Mobile news and information-on-demand
- Mobile social networking
- Mobile enablement of traditional and online retail and commerce
- Mobile music and entertainment
