So we ran a competition to see which 3 people would win exclusive $150 tickets to Invent Singapore 2009 this Saturday…

Bernard and I had a hard time trying to finalise the 3 winners as we thought all of the suggestions were good and a few even echoed what we’ve been thinking about ourselves too. But alas, we had to choose…so here we go. Congrats to these 3 lucky winners!

Daniel Vaughan

I think it would be interesting to have more interviews with innovative people from non-tech domains. When people are thinking of the next great thing that will make them a successful tech entrepreneur a really useful thing to do is to broaden their point of view by learning something from someone domain completely novel to them.

An interview with an innovative vet, airline pilot, archaeologist, hair dresser or anyone who either solved a problem or did something innovative in their industry would be interesting. It also might be the thing that causes the slight shift in thinking that sparks a great idea. It also shows people in the tech world, day in day out that there is a whole world of problems a tech person would never usually come across just waiting to be solved.

~> This is an excellent point, for I do agree that creativity cuts across boundaries. And multidisciplinary thinking lends itself to innovative solutions in any industry and would be of immense usefulness to an entrepreneur.

For this, I suggest that sgEntrepreneur can build up a network of entrepreneur that it has interview and add it to its data. It can create platform where the entrepreneur can regularly post their updates of entrepreneur experience and things they wish to share. It will become a mini-blogging for the entrepreneur. And if there is any aspiring entreprenur who wish to post to question to a specific entrepreneur, the platform will let the entrepreneur know about and the entrepreneur can reply the query to person who post the question.

~> This is a great suggestion as more people would be able to learn from the experiences from these entrepreneurs. Though we do try to capture their thoughts and experiences in our interviews, they are but one-time snapshots. As time passes, we are sure they learn more as well and it would be interesting if our readers can learn alongside them.

Regarding the question, I think there should be a section on this website where start-ups or individuals post their ideas/biz plans/elevator’s pitch either by means of text entry or a short 1 min video of themselves presenting the idea….it would be really cool and a great oppurtunity for entrepreneurs to get visually acclaimed.

~> This is actually something we’ve been thinking about as well and your suggestion will definitely give many budding entrepreneurs the chance to showcase their new product or startup. It will also enable entrepreneurs to learn from others, both good and bad pitches. This will in turn hopefully increase the standard of the elevator pitch.

Abhinav Jain

Majority of budding entrepreneur find it difficult to find right set of people to team up and work together. Sometimes individuals have ideas about an innovative product or services, however they end up wasting lot of time and energy locating team-members who have expertise and skills to carry out the idea.

As a premier web resource for budding entrepreneurs, Sgentrepreneur.com [sic] should provide a platform where individuals can post their small synopsis of ideas and what exactly they are looking in aspiring team-mates. It will not only help in bringing together entrepreneurs from the region, but will also increasing the visibility of the site by gaining more traffic and returning users.

~> This is a problem that many entrepreneurs face and we’ve realised it as well. The solution that you’ve proposed is something that will definitely help the ecosystem here.

I will drop each of you an email. :) Congratulations from us at SGEntrepreneurs again!

Update: As Daniel Vaughan is currently in the UK and did not have anyone to nominate for the ticket, we’re giving it to Abhinav Jain. We initially had a very difficult time choosing amongst the whole lot for the final 3 but Abhinav’s entry was the next best!
