The Chupitos Bar logoJust earlier this evening, the winner of the Martell VSOP “The Ultimate Start-Up Space” challenge was crowned. And we are happy to announce that The Chupitos Bar won! Congrats to Jamie Koh and Cherilyn Tan, the dynamic team behind the idea.

The Chupitos Bar will be a specialised shots bar. The ladies plan to have a huge variety of shots, consisting of both traditional ones as well as more unique flavours.

Jamie and Cherilyn beat out more than 200 submissions to become the ultimate winner.

But their journey to becoming this ultimate winner was a long one.

First, each participant had to submit a 60-second video of their business idea worthy of the Clarke Quay space offered by the competition (check out The Chupitos Bar’s 60-second video submission for the competition). Next, top 10 finalists were chosen.

Each finalist were provided business management training by INSEAD and financial planning training by Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore. They then had to write up a business plan which was then reviewed by the panel of judges. And lastly, the winner was chosen!

As the Ultimate winner, Jamie and Cherilyn has the right to occupy the space located at Clarke Quay rent-free for 6 months, funding of S$20,000 (renovation fund from Pernod-Ricard Singapore (Martell VSOP)), AND an Executive Education Programme from INSEAD.

The Chupitos Bar will open in May 2010.
