Temasek Holdings logoSingapore’s Temasek Holdings has invested S$46.3m (USD 35m) in popular Chinese video sharing site Tudou. This is part of a Series E funding round that includes another USD 15M from existing investors, to make a total of USD 135M raised over Series A to E since going live 15th April 2005.

Tudou is the second largest online video sharing site in China, behind Youku, according to Beijing-based internet research company, Analysys as reported by FT.

With the new wave of funds, Tudou wants to focus on expanding its main advertising-supported web platform and developing mobile/portable device video technology, having lamented on the fact that “There is one Tudou application for the iPad already but it’s not good enough – it has only 40,000 videos,” Gary Wang, founder and CEO of Tudou.

Tudou will also launch its first made-for-Internet drama series this fall 2010.
