Philippine govt launches one-stop registration program for entrepreneurs

The Philippine government’s Trade department has launched on 27th January a “one-stop” registration center for aspiring entrepreneurs.

Called the Philippine Business Registry, the center was opened at the department’s Metro Manila office with more branches on the way in March.

The PBR, which was launched after a delay caused by technical issues, aims to reduce red tape by giving applicants immediate access to five agencies: the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Social Security System (SSS), Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) and the Home Development Mutual Fund (Pag-IBIG).

Officials claim the registration process would be reduced from days to just 30 minutes.

This scheme is part of the 2011-2016 Philippine Development Plan, which has set improving the local business environment as one of its goals.
