High Browse Online: an initiative by the Public Library Services, National Library Board. Featuring book reviews, librarians’ recommendations, readers’ contributions, and events at public libraries, they are also called “the Book Blog”. They invite readers to post comments or contribute reviews and recommendations. They have regular columns in promoting new books from different areas with interesting themes for a period of time.


NUS Entrepreneurship Society: The NUS Entrepreneurship Society (NES) was formed in July 1992 with the mission: “To Motivate, Prepare and Nurture Successful Entrepreneurs”. Over the years, the society has been led by this mission and constantly strives to promote the spirit of entrepreneurship among the NUS Community. In essence, the society is not just another business society; it is a hub for entrepreneurship. Networking opportunities are abound. Holding regular business forums featuring prominent speakers, the society not only aims to educate, but also to bring students with innovative business ideas close to the business community. As a student run organisation, the society also organises social and recreational activities to promote interaction and co-operation among its members. Students have been known to find capable business partners among their peers through the society and have since launched successful partnerships.


Entrepreneur 27 (Singapore Chapter): Entrepreneur27 was started in Silicon Valley in 2005. Entrepreneur 27 in Singapore aims to be the premier event to promote this spirit of entrepreneurship amongst the young in Singapore and to explore the frontiers of this new world together. In the process, Entrepreneur27 Singapore also seek to foster closer ties between Silicon Valley and Singapore. By building this bridge, they also seek to help startups from both sides of the Pacific to quickly cross not just the chasm but also the ocean. The founders of the team are formerly from the NUS Overseas College (NOC).

The Digital Movement: The Digital Movement is a non-profit organization consisting of people passionate about experimenting new innovations and seeing the impact they have on the tech community in Singapore and the region! This diverse team of youths is made up of undergraduates, young entrepreneurs, professionals, innovators, programmers, designers, geeks, technology evangelists, bloggers and visionaries! Their goals include: (1)To excite the high-tech entrepreneurship scene in Singapore and the region, (2) To create an addictive and informal culture of sharing, enterprise and innovation! (3) Get people interested in technology to come together and form communities and (4) Bridge the gap between industry professionals, government and the smaller enterprises (e.g: young entrepreneurs & start-up companies).

NUS Entrepreneurs’ Association: The National University of Singapore Entrepreneurs’ Association (NUSEA) is a group of aspiring entrepreneurs from the National University of Singapore (NUS) who are working for a year in various start-ups in Silicon Valley to experience and learn the spirit of entrepreneurship.

The aim of the organization is to promote entrepreneurship in both Silicon Valley and Singapore, to create new ventures and initiatives for the benefits of its members, and also to help members to build up strong ties with companies, individuals, professional and student entrepreneurial organizations in the valley.

SHEN (the Shanghai House of Entrepreneurs NUS): SHEN is an organization formed by participants of the NUS Overseas College Shanghai. Through the NOC programme, the students are attached to various companies from diversified industries in Shanghai. They enrol in Technopreneurship courses jointly organized by NUS and Fudan University as part of NOC objective to cultivate Entrepreneurial spirit in her students. SHEN aims to promote the entrepreneurial spirit, as well as provide support by being a point of contact for Singaporeans, Chinese and other nationalities in Singapore and Shanghai. The organization aims to promote both business and social entrepreneurship amongst students by means of sharing our different work experiences in Shanghai and organizing events related to our cause.

SHEN is currently planning for a few major events to be held in the next few months with themes revolving around encouraging youth entrepreneurship and social entrepreneurship such as a Singapore Food Bazaar and A Food for Love charity project in Shanghai.

SPIN

Singapore Philadelphia Innovators Network: Recognizing the great potential in Philadelphia for strategic and valuable collaborations and partnerships, the Singapore Philadelphia Innovators Network (SPiN) was thus founded. Driven by the vision of being a leading organization that aims to facilitate entrepreneurial exchanges between Singapore and Greater Philadelphia , SPiN’s vision encompasses the tripartite roles of Ambassador, Connector and and Catalyst . SPIN believes that it will be a melting pot and bridge for all entrepreneurs, investors and academia in both Greater Philadelphia Region and Singapore, SPiNning out a myriad of opportunities for expansion into both regions and beyond.

nuStart was established by aspiring entrepreneurs from the National University of Singapore (NUS) who are on a one year internship program in various start-up companies in Stockholm. The program is a collaboration between NUS and Royal Institute of Technology (Kungliga Tekniska högskolan, KTH).

nuStart aims to promote entrepreneurial exchange. Internally, this is achieved by creating initiatives for its members and helping them build strong networks with companies, individuals and entrepreneurial organizations in Stockholm. However, we also recognize the great potential and value for collaboration on a bigger scale. As such, our outlook also extends to a broader external level and nuStart strives to be leading organization acting as the enabler and channel for entrepreneurial exchange between Stockholm and Singapore.
