Hi Ken, your examples show that there are indeed some models that are hard to C2C.

The common patterns from your examples is that those infrastructure are harder to setup, replicate and cost more than those "web-based" hosting solution.

Mobile, Im etc required quite hefty investment of servers, expertise, knowledge that is normally not found in hosted solution.

First time I heard of Issac Mao, but already someone I'm interested to meet.

Oh, he is in Shanghai too! :)

I believe there are example of models that is not c2c. Think in terms of the market difference.
Some example that I think work exceptionally well
* Mobile phone, mobile services.
* IM, online chat, avatar

[...] On a related note, when I attended the SGentrepreneurs’ Isaac Mao event last week, I spoke to someone from the Infocomm Development Authority (one of the event’s sponsors). I asked about the National Infocomm Scholarship, which started offering overseas scholarships this year. He said that 70% of the scholarship is subsidized by the state under ‘industry development’, the other 30% is paid by the secondment companies. [...]
