In the social IM space, we see more and more integration and aggregation activities going on. We also see that IM clients which were once mostly desktop-based migrating/merging with the browser. Popular clients like Meebo and Ebuddy are evidence of this. Once dataplans become cheaper and accessible for phones, it’s a no-brainer to postulate that the next Big IM War will happen on the phone.

You guys here have a great thing going here and I’m pretty sure the SGE community will seed more and more young SG entrepreneurs in the years to come.

ZopIM is on hiring mode right now and we are looking for full time/internship web developers who would like to join us in the next phase of our journey.

People we are looking for:

We looking for people with good programming backgrounds, who love programming and who are able to pick skills up quickly independently. Some of the qualities we are looking for are

Preferred Qualities:
- Good Programming skills
- Experience in creating a website and proficient with the design and aesthetic fundamentals like HTML, CSS, etc.
- Knowledge and experience in Javascript/Actionscript/Flex/C++/Python
- Experience in basic server administration will be advantageous.

Very Important Qualities

If you do not have the above preferred qualities, no worries. For the school holidays, Team ZopIM is also open to students with basic programming abilities who have the ability to pick up new skills quickly. We value training and the development team will ensure that your learning progress will be as rapid and fruitful as possible. NOTE: The key traits we want are passion, a willingness to learn and resourcefulness.

Job Scope Summary:

- Developing ZopIM’s new web service platform as part of the development team.
- Maintenance of ZopIM’s website and its back-end system.
- Learning new skills on the job from the development team.
- Having loads and loads of fun. (We are very serious about fun at ZopIM)

Remuneration

Basic pay will be market rates for technical internships. However, we are open to higher pay for individuals that have prior experience or have picked up relevant skills through the course of the internship. Basically, we are all ears if you can justify to us why you are worth more.
