Canon — the complete business solution for entrepreneurs

With over a decade of experience in Canon overseeing projects in the public and private sectors, as well as conducting product training and business development, Norman knows Canon business products like the back of his hand.

He is the resident expert for Canon’s range of business products at the company’s Think Big website. Think Big is a campaign in Singapore to encourage entrepreneurs and SMEs to innovate and pursue their passion.

There’s no doubt in his mind which brand of office solutions best fits ambitious entrepreneurs and their businesses.

“Canon has a whole range of products. We offer the complete solution that caters to all budgets. You may purchase just one product now, but in the future you might need additional devices that complement one another,” he said.

The company has a product line that includes business printers, laser printers, large format printers, multimedia projectors, network video solutions, and multi-function devices.

According to Norman, laser multi-function devices with network capabilities are popular among start-ups. These include the imageCLASS series of all-in-one laser printers, which can perform printing, faxing, scanning, and copying of documents. They are priced from as low as S$199 to S$3,999 for a top-of-its-class machine.

These printers are designed to minimize power consumption and cut running costs, saving the environment at the same time. This is achieved by implementing more energy efficient printing and document handling processes.

Projectors are also useful additions for a company office, and Canon offers an extensive line-up.

The entry-level LV-7290 – priced at S$749 – is a low-cost solution that is easy to operate, full-featured, and eco-friendly at the same time. The more advanced LV-8235 UST, at S$1,999, is specially designed to work well in tight spaces, producing sharp images and even audio to spice up a presentation.

While Canon offers products that can rival any brand, Norman added that what makes the company outstanding is its after-sales support.

“Canon has an in-house customer service staff with fast response times. We don’t outsource,” he said.

This is especially crucial when a device encounters a problem, and every second that ticks away is productivity lost. Being able to fix a technical problem quickly is very important when there are deadlines to meet.

Canon also holds a technological edge over its rivals. While some brands rely on OEMs to manufacture their products, Canon owns proprietary technology that ensures it is a leader in its field.

Since the mid-seventies, it has been developing its own inkjet technology, which uses techniques employed in semi-conductor production for printing high-quality images. It has also conducted R&D to develop technologies in scanning, image capture, and image projection.

With a well-rounded approach to serving its customers, not just as a manufacturer of cutting-edge technology but also as a service provider, it’s no wonder Canon is such a trusted brand among SMEs, large corporations, and even the public sector.

According to Norman, some of its corporate clients have included Resorts World Sentosa and Great Eastern. It is also a service provider to many statutory boards, government agencies, and Ministry of Education-certified schools in Singapore.

Canon is looking forward to being a major part of the burgeoning start-up scene in Singapore as well, providing the latest technologies to entrepreneurs to help them reach the fullest potential.

With business products suiting every budget and need, Norman is confident that Canon will become an integral part of many entrepreneur’s lives.

“We hope to be with them from cradle to IPO,” he said.
