In this video, some of New York’s top startups and investors share their advice about pitching. One that stood out was the idea that either you practice really hard for your pitch, or not at all. For Erica Cerulo and Claire Mazur, co-founders of fashion startup Of a Kind, spontaneity works best for them, and rehearsing for a pitch results in them not coming across as authentic. Hayley Barna and Katia Beauchamp of Birchbox, on the other hand, take the opposite approach, making sure they perfect the message and delivery of their pitch.
