Female entrepreneurs are rare. According to the New York Times, only eight percent of American venture-backed tech startups in 2010 were founded by women. The most common explanation given is that women are generally unwilling to bet all that she has on something that contains high risk, knowing at the back of her mind that she has other traditional heavyweight roles to fulfill such as raising families.
But more often than not, what (both) women (and men) need is support and encouragement.

Secret {W} Business, an organisation connecting like-minded women to fulfill their budding entrepreneurial dreams, will be launching its very first Speed {W} Networking session titled “After Hours” 2.0 at SpeakEasy, a wine bar. This event will involve girls meeting each other one at a time for a short interval of two minutes and then moving on to the next person in line.
Kara Bensley, founder of WYLD Agencies (a platform for Asia Pacific brands to be discovered), will also be sharing her tips for entrepreneurs in Singapore. Read more

This 8th of March is the 100th anniversary International Women’s Day. This Women In Entrepreneurship forum by Exploit Technologies (the marketing and commercialization arm of government agency A*STAR (Agency for Science, Technology and Research Singapore)) hopes to inspire female research innovators to be technopreneurs and enterprising leaders of society.
