Joining Internet behemoth Google in the increasingly crowded near-field communication (NFC) hot tub is mobile company Sony Ericsson, who is putting NFC chips into its Android phones, the Times of India revealed (see also uses for NFC).
A while back, we reported that a tech blogger discovered some NFC functionality on the Google+ mobile app. Google has also been actively implementing the technology for its Google Wallet and Google Places services. Read more

This geek managed to get hold of Eric for an interview in during Intel AppUp Elements 2010 Conference in Marriott Hotel, San Francisco and we discussed about what Adobe’s strategy for developers are and how Adobe sees themselves helping developers, why they got into a partnership with Intel AppUp, their new service for developers called Melrose, about their thoughts on MeeGo and the status of Flash and AIR support for MeeGo as well as product roadmap.

The beta version of the Intel Atom Developer Program Software Development Kit (SDK) for both Microsoft* Windows (C and C++) and Moblin (C) is now available. So you can now use this SDK release to submit your apps and be ready to sell them through Intel’s partner app stores when they open in 2010. Fresh from receiving updates on Nokia’s Ovi app store in Kuala Lumpur last week, this geek is now hearing about the launch of the Intel Atom Developer Program (IADP) in the Intel Developer Forum 2009 in San Francisco. An Intel netbook app store will be launched soon in conjuction with IADP.
From the initial groan of hearing about more app stores, this geek concludes that app stores should be the way forward as we move towards the attention economy.
