This geek met serial entrepreneur and CEO of Geodelic Rahul Sonnad in San Francisco last month and understood that they may be expanding to South East Asia soon, although details are not announced at this point as discussions are ongoing.
Geodelic’s product GeoGuides beta which was introduced for smart phones last month is an interesting geolocation app where you can instantly turn your venue into an online and mobile app and people can check in, discover interesting services, as well as find friends. Their customers include Clear Channel, with their FLYsmart Airport Guides, and the Santa Monica Convention & Visitors Bureau to engage with consumers in and around their location. Read more

As a prominent Asian brand, HTC has been producing mobile handsets with three different platforms: Windows Mobile, Android & Qualcomm’s Brew OS. Apple recently released a new developer licensing agreement permitting only “independent” ad serving companies to serve ads on their iPhone (and iPad) platforms, thus making sure that Google’s new baby – the recently acquired AdMob – cannot do so. AdMob fails to meet Apple’s criteria as it is not “independent” because its parent, Google, “develops and distributes mobile devices and operating systems”.
While AdMob is fuming over this new agreement, InMobi (whom we met two weeks ago at ad:tech 2010) with its independent network status, stands to gain immensely from the absence of AdMob on the iPhone platform. Read more
