
Singapore startup Peekspy has been acquired by US-based StubHub for undisclosed financial terms, reported TechCrunch.
The Peekspy team will be moving from Singapore to San Francisco. The company’s site, Fanvenues, allows users to peek into concert and sports venues in 3D so as to make better purchase decisions about tickets. Read more

News of the acquisition of Detik.com, an Indonesia online news portal, was tweeted by Donis Ismanto Darwin, a journalist at Jakarta Daily. He said the acquisition is in final stage of negotiation where it will be valued at US$60 million with 100% acquisition ownership. He received this information from insiders and it is also verified by a person close to Budiono Darsono, founder and editor-in-chief of Detik.com, who said the acquisition value is about IDR 521-540 billion (US$ 61-63 million). InMobi, a leading independent mobile ad network, has announced on August 3 the acquisition of Sprout, a platform that simplifies the creation of HTML5 mobile ads, for an undisclosed sum. Malaysia-based MOL Global, a payment systems development company for social networks, online games and virtual worlds, has acquired Thailand’s leading games distributor and payment gateway company Zest Interactive through its Thai operation MOL AccessPortal, according to a MOL press release released on July 25. Mobile payment company Zong has been acquired by eBay for approximately US$240 million on 7th July. With this acquisition, eBay looks set to add to its extensive e-commerce capabilities, which includes online payments solution PayPal.
Zong’s service enables consumers to purchase items online through their mobile phones or computers and have the transaction reflected on their phone bills. Users would only need to verify the transaction with their phone numbers.
Their service is available through more than 250 mobile careers around the world, serving 45 countries in 21 languages. In 2009, Zong processed payments for over 10 million unique users globally.
In Asia, Zong works with carriers in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and more (full list). Mobile commerce appears to have a promising future in the region, since smartphone usage among developed and developing countries in Asia is comparable to the West.
