InMobi, the world’s largest independent mobile ad network, has revealed that in July to September 2011 (Q3), Android impressions for mobile ads in the Asia Pacific have grown 7.5 percent while impressions for the iPhone, Nokia, and Symbian OSes have declined by around 1 to 3 percent each from the previous quarter.
However, Nokia and Symbian still combine for 47 percent of the market, followed by Android at 17 percent, iPhone at 6 percent, and RIM at 1 percent.
For Asia Pacific, InMobi has included Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, and Taiwan. Read more

This Saturday, Nokia will organize X-Calibre Hackathon. It is a one day Windows Phone application building contest where developers compete to create the best WP app using Mango features such as Metro UI, Live Tiles, Fast App Switching etc. The judging will be done by representatives from Nokia, Microsoft, and the WP Champs. Joining Internet behemoth Google in the increasingly crowded near-field communication (NFC) hot tub is mobile company Sony Ericsson, who is putting NFC chips into its Android phones, the Times of India revealed (see also uses for NFC).
A while back, we reported that a tech blogger discovered some NFC functionality on the Google+ mobile app. Google has also been actively implementing the technology for its Google Wallet and Google Places services. Read more
