<p>Senthil has moved to Singapore recently and he is an active contributor to the international Python community, having spoken at PyCon APAC 2010.</p>

<p><strong>Topic : Python Scripting on the Android Phone</strong><br />
<strong>Speaker : George Loo</strong><br />
Synopsis : The Android Scripting Environment (ASE) brings scripting languages to Android by allowing one to edit and execute scripts and interactive interpreters directly on an Android device. These scripts have access to many of the APIs available to full-fledged Android applications, but with a greatly simplified interfaces. George will be sharing how the ASE Python package helps him write and run scripts directly on his Android phone.</p>
<p><strong>Topic : Google App Engine + Django</strong><br />
<strong>Speaker : Calvin Cheng</strong><br />
Synopsis : By now, you should have heard of GAE or the Google App Engine as a platform for developing and hosting web applications in Google-managed data centers. You should also know Django as the high-level Python Web framework that encourages rapid development and clean, pragmatic design. Calvin will bring both of them together as he shares his experiences in running Django on the Google App Engine, having created his personal GAE + Django blog site.</p>

Synopsis : All (personal) projects that you have done using Python. If you&#8217;ve never given a talk before, lightning talks are a good place to start. You don&#8217;t need to make slides, but if you do, you only need to make three.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>For those who are involved with IT entrepreneurship in Singapore, depending on what platform you are working on, you might want to check out the different communities of developers in Singapore. From iPhone development to PHP User Group, these communities have organized their own activities every month to attract and gather enthusiasts in Singapore to communicate with each other. We have also included the champions who are involved with these developer groups in this article. If you are keen to develop yourself further in the development platform you are working on, perhaps, these groups might be of help to you. <span id="more-3738"></span></p>
<p><img src="http://sgentrepreneurs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/n29368309964_8713.jpg" style="margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left; width: 150px;" border="0" /><a href="http://www.facebook.com/home.php#/group.php?gid=29368309964&#038;ref=ts"><strong>CocoaHeads</strong></a>: CocoaHeads is a group devoted to discussion of Apple Computer&#8217;s Cocoa Framework for programming on MacOS X as well as the iPhone/iPod Touch. During monthly meetings, members present on their projects and offer tutorials on various programming topics. The community has met up for the first time recently in iShop, Cineleisure. For those who want to get involved with iPhone apps development, the champion for CocoaHeads (Singapore Chapter), Eric Dunivant has started a new site, <a href="http://www.coreiphone.com/">CoreiPhone</a>, which contains resources to help those who want to get their apps developed, known and heard. </p>
<p><img src="http://sgentrepreneurs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/picture-3.png" style="margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left; width: 150px;" border="0" /><a href="http://www.php.com.sg"><strong>Singapore PHP User Group</strong></a>: The <a href="http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=14934950373">group</a> (Facebook) was established in 2006 by Michael Cheng (who is also the champion for PHP User Group). PHP (recursive acronym for &#8220;PHP: Hypertext Preprocessor&#8221;) is a widely-used Open Source general-purpose scripting language that is especially suited for Web development and can be embedded into HTML. Currently, they are the most active developers&#8217; group and have organized monthly meetings in Microsoft, Oracle and SMU. Recently, they have evolved into a society and now they offered paid courses to allow PHP developers to obtain certification. They have also been involved in organizing events such as Facebook Developers Garage II and Barcamp Singapore II: Maps and Mobile last year with E27. In their main site, you can find videos of the seminars given by PHP developers in different areas from developing wordpress plugins to Microsoft Silverlight.</p>

They have held their 2nd meeting recently in SMU and is relatively a newcomer to the developer user groups. Known Python user include Michael Lim (<a href="http://www.comiqs.com">Comiqs</a>).</p>
<p><img src="http://sgentrepreneurs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/fug128.png" style="margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left; width: 50px;" border="0" /><a href="http://fug.sg/"><strong>Singapore Flex Group</strong></a>: The Singapore Flex Usergroup aims to bridge its members with both local and international Flex gurus. They have organized monthly meetings for those who are interested in flash development and also they have done the recent RIAction event in Microsoft. Their current champion is Shunjie (<a href="http://seesmic.com/">Seesmic</a>).</p>

Currently, their monthly gatherings are held in Yahoo!. They have been around for a while with prominent developers such as Harryanto (<a href="http://www.bookjetty.com">Bookjetty</a>) and Choon Keat (<a href="http://www.sharedcopy.com">SharedCopy</a>). Their current champion is Jason Ong. </p>
<p><img src="http://sgentrepreneurs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/picture-4.png" style="margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left; width: 150px;" border="0" /><strong><a href="http://www.creativecrew.com.sg/">Creative Crew Singapore</a></strong>: Creative Crew is the official Adobe User Group for Photoshop and After Effects. Based in Singapore, <a href="http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=14431580201">Creative Crew</a> (FB Group) has the aim to share and spread techniques and tutorials for both Print and Video. The User Group meets every second Tuesday of the month in a Live Meeting. The champions of the group include Stefano Virgilli (<a href="http://www.ultimatevideofx.com/">Ultimate Video Fx Pte Ltd</a>) and Carlsson Chee (<a href="http://www.rephlexiondesigns.com/">Rephlexion Designs.</a>).</p>
<p><img src="http://sgentrepreneurs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/n54219346370_5829.jpg" style="margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left; width: 100px;" border="0" /><strong><a href="http://www.codeandroid.org/">Code Android Singapore</a></strong>: CodeAndroid.org, is part of the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=54219346370">Android Developer and User Group</a>  created to help Android users as well as developers from Singapore, Malaysia and our APAC countries to learn about the platform (API), latest news, reviews about development in <a href="http://code.google.com/android/">Android</a>. The champion for this user group is Zi Yong. </p>
<p><img src="http://sgentrepreneurs.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/03/logo03.jpg" style="margin: 0px 5px 5px 0px; float: left; width: 150px;" border="0" /><strong><a href="http://www.sgdotnet.org/Pages/Default.aspx">SGDotNet</a></strong>:  The defacto Singapore <a href="http://www.microsoft.com/NET/">.NET Developer Group</a>. They are a Singapore based user group formed to discuss about IT related topics, focusing mainly on .NET platform. The group is made up of IT Professionals from all walks of life and from all corners of the world. Most of our members are based in Singapore, but we have valuable members from other countries and their mission is to help motivated developers discover the best ways to use .NET Technology. Their gatherings are typically held in Microsoft Singapore Pte Ltd @One Marina Boulevard. </p>

<p>The <a href="http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20088734289">Singapore Python Group</a> is organizing the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/events.php?ref=sb#/event.php?eid=102821590715">2nd Singapore Python User Group Meeting</a>. The event will be held on 8 Jan 2009, Thursday, from 7:00pm &#8211; 9:00pm in SMU, SIS (School of Information System) NSR 2.1. In this meeting, there will be a demo of (i) an Ajax Django App with Revision Control Features using Myer&#8217;s Algorithm, (ii) Python in a Blender, (iii) PyCon 2010 Update, (iv) Lightning Talks &#8211; Open Invitation and (v) networking with snacks and tea.
